About Julie Baggenstoss
Julie Baggenstoss is a flamenco
dancer and instructor who gives classes to adults and children in
metro Atlanta. In her classes, you can expect Julie to explain
musical rhythms, dance steps, and the connection between the dance
and the music.
Julie has studied dance for over 25
years, with training in ballet, tap, jazz and precision dance. She added
flamenco to her repertoire in 1997, under the instruction of
Teresa Romero Torkanowsky in New Orleans. Julie continued her
flamenco training under Ulrika Frank in Atlanta and at the Manuel
Betanzos flamenco academy in Seville, Spain. Her dancing style is
greatly influenced by Frank & Betanzos, as well as Seville
teachers Soraya Clavijo and Manuela Reyes.
Julie is an independent performing
artist. She has performed with internationally renowned
flamenco artist Antonio Vargas, singer Chayito Champión, and
guitarist John Lawrence. She is a teaching artist with Young
Audiences and has performed in Georgia with Atlanta Flamenco
Productions. Julie has appeared at Atlanta's Music Midtown,
Techbridge's Digital Ball, the University of Georgia and in
several theatrical productions.
Julie is a teaching specialist at
Emory University and gives public classes at Several Dancers Core.
She is a former instructor of children and adults at the Atlanta
Ballet. She has lectured at the Rialto Center for Performing
Arts and given workshops for the Fulton County Library System and
Georgia Tech University.
