Presented in Atlanta and Indianapolis, original American poetry is the playground for percussive flamenco dance, marking time and the spaces around it. The fusion smolders with flamenco singing, originally born spontaneously as poetry-in-song and the base of flamenco dance.
This fusion was first born in the Fall 2011 session of Fieldwork in Atlanta, with the desire to create a piece that bridges flamenco with American culture, connecting the bodily expression with English words, in addition to Spanish song lyrics. Tasha Jones provides the spoken word is incredibly compelling, through her choice of words in her original poetry and passionate delivery. Lisa Herman sings with conviction old flamenco letras in the piece, delivering a strong female voice that plays between decades-old flamenco tradition and contemporary tradition of poetry slam.
